01 Sep Labor Day
Happy Labor Day!
Labor Day is a day set aside to pay tribute to working men and women. It has been celebrated as a national holiday in the United States and Canada since 1894. The first Labor Day holiday was celebrated on Tuesday, September 5th, 1882, in New York City in accordance with the Central Labor Union.
With the growth of the Industrial Revolution came the demand for labor and trade unions. During the peak, many citizens worked 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, just to make ends meet. Young children especially, were overworked and underpaid, despite restrictions in certain states.
In 1938, the Fair Labor Standards Act was passed to establish minimum wage, overtime pay, recordkeeping, and child labor standards affecting full-time and part-time workers in the private sector and in Federal, State, and Local governments.
We ask you to join us as we pay tribute to the contributions and achievements of all American workers. Zeiders commemorates the workers who, often in the face of challenges and hardships, have fought to build a prosperous nation. We honor them for their dedication to serving our country and upholding its foundations of hard work and merit.
Happy Labor Day to all our employees!
