16 May Armed Forces Day
Armed Forces Day is the day to honor all who currently serve and who have served in the reserves, National Guard, or on active duty. When President Truman established the holiday on February 27th, 1950, he wrote, “I invite the Governors of the States, Territories, and possessions to issue proclamations calling for the celebration of the day in such manner as to honor the Armed Forces of the United States and the millions of veterans who have returned to civilian pursuits.”
Over 60% of Zeiders employees have military ties, whether as Veterans, spouses, parents, or children of a military member. We honor the men and women from every branch of the U.S. Military who have served as our land, sea, and air defense in times of war and peace.
We celebrate all service members for the sacrifices they have made and continue to make every day to keep our country safe. We honor our Zeiders employees for their hard work and dedication. Thank you for your service, today and every day!
“Our Servicemen and women are serving throughout the world as guardians of peace- many of them away from their homes, their friends, and their families. They are visible evidence of our determination to meet any threat to the peace with measured strength and high resolve. They are also evidence of a harsh but inescapable truth- that the survival of freedom requires great cost and commitment, and great personal sacrifice.” – President John F. Kennedy, 1963 proclamation of Armed Forces Day.
