12 Feb Today is Military Spouse Appreciation Day!
America’s military spouses are the backbone of the families that support our troops. They are the silent heroes who lend their strength to our service members, make sacrifices every day and serve their country just like their loved ones.
In 1984, President Ronald Reagan recognized the profound importance of spousal commitment to the readiness and well-being of military members. Congress officially made Military Spouse Appreciation Day part of National Military Appreciation Month in 1999. The Department of Defense standardized the date by declaring the Friday before Mother’s Day every year as Military Spouse Appreciation Day to show appreciation for the sacrifices of military spouses.
At Zeiders, we understand the difficulties and uncertainties that can be part of the day-to-day life of a military spouse. We know firsthand the difficulties that come with being a military spouse, as nearly 40 percent of Zeiders’ employees are military spouses, and we are happy to be able to provide services to support military spouses every day. We support the programs that support military spouses around the world through the Spouse Education and Career Opportunities (SECO) and Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP) programs, helping to secure education and employment for military spouses.
Join us in taking time today to acknowledge the significant contributions, support and sacrifices of military spouses in your community. Thank you to the military spouses supporting our troops around the world.
